History
From 1795,
Austria became the birthplace of classical music. The
Battle of Vienna in 1683 interrupted the raid of the
Ottoman Empire into Europe. The name Ostarrîchi
(Austria) has been in use since 996 AD.
Following the
First Republic, Austrofascism (The Fatherland Front) tried
to keep Austria independent from the German Reich (the
name of the German nation state that existed from 1871 to
1945).
