Austrian culture has been influenced by its past and present people: Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, and Bohemia.

Music was something very important in Austria in its history. Vienna's status began its rise as a cultural center in the early 16th century, and was focused around instruments including the lute. There were Vienna Opera house and Vienna Opera Ball when people could listen and watch opera they liked. The Vienna State Opera, in German called Staatsoper, is still one of the most important opera companies in the world.

 The folk music was also well-known as well as the pop music called Austropop. The most popular form of modern Austrian folk music is Viennese Schrammelmusik, which is played with an accordion and a double-necked guitar.

The Ländler is a folk dance which was popular in Austria, Bavaria, German Switzerland, and Slovenia at the end of the 18th century and is very popular dance as the different types of music.
